Harnessing new frontiers of technology to solve problems for humanity.
Dr. Faris Makes Presentation at The International Zinc Conference
HAWTHORNE, NY(FEBRUARY 26, 2008)
On February 26, 2008 at the International Zinc Conference in Scottsdale, Arizona, Dr. Faris described the Reveo and eVionyx invention of the novel alternative fuel cycle intended to sustain lifestyle. He share his thoughts at an invited conference presentation entitled, Is Zinc the Answer to Our Energy Independence? given by the International Zinc Association. He and Dr. Tsepin Tsai, the Chairman and CEO of eVionyx-Taiwan, demonstrated several products to the Conference participants, including nickel zinc batteries for transportation, refuelable zinc air fuel cells and the e-bike powered by nickel zinc batteries. The participants delighted in riding the electrically assisted bicycles and admired the power that is generated by the zinc material.
The presentation highlighted the two different cycles illustrated in the diagram below.

The left-hand cycle is the so-called food cycle to sustain life. This cycle has evolved over billions of years and is used for harvesting food for all living species converting oxides like carbon dioxide and water by extracting energy from the sun to harvest our food – wheat, rice, corn, etc. eVionyx invented the fuel cycle on the right-hand side of the diagram. This is intended to sustain lifestyle, powering our automobiles, our homes, our factories, heating, air conditioning, etc. This cycle is analogous to the food cycle on the left in that the primary energy comes from the sun, converting or reducing oxides of zinc and to harvest zinc fuel the same way we harvest food. This is a hundred to a thousand times more efficient than the food side on the left. Dr. Faris, therefore, made the audacious statement, “It would be criminal to even contemplate using the left-hand food cycle evolved to sustain life and use it for bio fuel to sustain our lifestyle,” he continued, “when the more efficient right-hand cycle has been demonstrated to be viable and should be dedicated to lifestyle. Hydrogen might have also been okay if it was not for 10-15 drawbacks which include safety and cost because of its flammability versus the non-flammable metal fuels like zinc and magnesium.” eVionyx invented this reduction and harvesting process which is analogous to photosynthesis in plants. The zinc harvested is then consumed by the zinc fuel cell, also invented and optimized by eVionyx, to generate electric power for all endeavors of mankind. The oxide is removed from the fuel cell and again zinc is regenerated by reduction device using renewable sustainable energy from the sun. This is a natural process like that of the food cycle. Dr. Faris highlighted the importance of zinc as a carrier of energy and it has superior advantages to the alternatives proposed, such as hydrogen fuel cells, bio fuels, lithium ion, etc. To highlight the significance and the superiority of the zinc fuel harvest cycle, Dr. Faris invited the zinc industry to participate in the Electric Mobility Victory . (See PDF attachment) This is an audacious demonstration of two buses that will have a range of 375 miles, will be refueled with fresh zinc and will go another 375 miles, and this refueling process will be repeated until 10,000 miles in distance is achieved. This will underscore that no other technology available today can achieve the above goal. Dr. Faris emphasized that eVionyx came a long way after 10 years and significant investment to make the above claims. The investment in eVionyx technology is miniscule in relation to approximately $30 billion squandered by hope lobbyists to make scientists and engineers who predict that the world would be safe and that energy sovereignty will be achieved based on “hydrogen economy, the bio fuel economy or the lithium ion battery economy.” These special interest groups do not pick winners of technology; only consumers and sound scientific and engineering principles are winners. There continues to be a need for an alternative form of energy and an alternative form of transportation that is non-polluting, affordable, that will sustain the lifestyle of all people.
